CSAO Chronicles.

The artist’s zine delves into the intersectionality of colorism and sexism in the Hip-Hop industry, based on profiles of black female trailblazers. Furthermore, the statement portrays that the artist is zooming into a known but unspoken area of hip-hop, sincerely and genuinely. This zine is a shared experience with the artist and many people who look like them.

Strawberry Milk

This first bridge project reflects and recalls a distant memory I shared with my mother. It goes through a day in the life of our dynamic duo.

The idea of this project was firmly based on the world I lived in during my early years. I sketched these images based on what occurred daily, which reminded me of my childhood. I wore bell-bottom jeans that were my mother’s in the 90s, and it reminded me of how much she has influenced my everyday life choices, even my sense of style. The day I sketched the Nesquik bottle, I caught a glimpse of one at the local bodega by my dorm, instantly bringing me back. I could curate my materials during class and was walking through my old neighborhood in the process. Scavenging for these items within my old hood set the tone when creating this final project. It brought value to this Strawberry Milk.

Sowing the Seeds of Liberation:
The Interconnected Roots of Black Joy, the Harlem Renaissance, and Hip-Hop

In my paper, I explore how the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 30s laid the groundwork for Hip-Hop culture through shared expressions of Black joy and liberation. I trace this connection through the spiritual energy of the Black Baptist church, community gatherings like rent parties, and dance forms such as the Lindy Hop. By examining these cultural elements, I demonstrate how the artistic expressions and cultural pride of the Harlem Renaissance continue to influence Hip-Hop culture today, showing a powerful continuity of Black creativity across generations.

6 Pillars Journal

These journal entries were correlated to my Hip-Hop Pedagogy and Practice course, following the ethos of the 6 Pillars of the Hip Hop Re: Education Project by Samuel Sellers, my beloved professor. This practice aided my week by giving me an objective and a release of my thoughts, and a reflection of what is going on in the world. I also connected these entries to music that led me through the week. Journaling is an integral part of my life.

While studying abroad at IE University in Madrid, Spain, I was privileged to learn about the various international ways of conducting business and the nature of strategic thinking on a global scale. This project analyzes the brand 818 Tequila across various topics, including Acquisition Strategy, Social Media Strategy, Fashion Market Segment, and Conversion & Retention Techniques. It encompasses semester-long research on brand development and marketing for the luxury goods industries.
